Jose Aguayo Retires After 45 Years With Harrison Industries

Among E.J. Harrison's proudest company assets are our longtime employees, and in March one of our longest, Jose Aguayo, retired. He began working for the company in March of 1970 and retired in March of 2015 - a long run of 45 years. Hardworking, dependable and a very happy employee is what George Harrison recalls about him. George and Lynn Harrison were just teenagers when they first met Jose at work.

The company is proud to have Jose as one of our employees. Jose Rangel said that in his exit interview, Jose Aguayo said that he liked everything about the company. He said his relationship with his supervisor was good and that his benefits were competitive with the benefits that others doing the same or similar jobs for other companies were receiving- and sometimes better. Jose wanted to thank everyone for all the things that they did for him and his family. He also wanted everyone to know that he felt it was time for him to retire while he could still enjoy life. He was very happy working at Harrison Industries.

The company held a special luncheon for Jose, who was joined by his daughter, who works for the County of Ventura. He was given a beautiful clock as a reminder of his many years of service with Harrison Industries. We will miss Jose but wish him the best in his retirement years.

I Am Proud to Be Part of Harrison's Winning Team

I am honored to have been named one of the top 50 women in business in the Tri Counties for the eighth year in a row.

This honor is bestowed annually by the Pacific Coast Business Times.

While the award recognizes a single person, it is really a team honor. It is testament to the Harrisons' dedication to giving back to the communities they serve that they willingly make my time and expertise available to so many good causes.

As Director of Governmental Affairs & Public Relations for Harrison Industries, I currently serve on the boards of the Ventura and Carpinteria chambers of commerce, the Economic Development Cooperative (EDCVC), the Ventura County Economic Development Association (VCEDA), the Community Memorial Hospital Architectural Review Committee, and the advisory board of the Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance, and I am co-chair of Ventura's St. Patrick's Day Parade. I have previously served on the boards of the California Integrated Waste Management Board and the L.A. Regional Water Quality Control Board as chair.

With the Harrisons' blessing and support, I have also had a long history of serving on the boards of many charitable organizations, including serving as president of the Assistance League of Ventura County and board member of the Ventura Music Festival, the Girl Scouts of America Tri-Counties and Friends of the Library, to name a few.

It was a great pleasure to receive this award for an eighth consecutive year from Henry Dubroff, publisher of the Pacific Coast Business Times. I am especially proud to be part of such an amazing team that makes this possible.

Community Memorial's Benefactors' Ball Was a Big Success

Harrison Industries was happy to attend and also be a sponsor of Community Memorial Healthcare Foundation's highly successful Benefactors' Ball, which took place on Saturday, April 18.

Earth Day in Ojai 2015: It's Our Turn to Lead

Donald Sealund, Field Representative with E.J. Harrison & Sons Inc. and Deborah Pendrey, Executive Director of Ojai Valley Green Coalition.

E.J. Harrison & Sons was a sponsor and hosted a booth at the wonderful Earth Day event held at the Oak Grove School campus. The booth was manned by one of our outreach supervisors, Donald Sealund.

This was a fun-filled event and took place Saturday, April 18 from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. I hope a lot of Ojai folks were able to participate. The event featured music, food, a sustainable transportation showcase, Go Green exhibitors, the Green Screen, and plenty of connecting as a community.

We were proud to support this event not only as sponsors but as participants, so we could be there to answer questions about how residents and businesses can learn to recycle better. We also helped to inform people about all of the new laws concerning organic waste recycling and collection.

Like Beatles Music? Come to Picnic in the Park
